About Hernly Farms
Hernly Farms is a small, family-run breeding program located in central Indiana. Our family has been raising English Shepherds for over 30 years, a tradition that began with Chris's parents, Steve and Nancy Hernly. Steve and Nancy ran an 80-sow farrow to finish hog farm with the help of their working English Shepherds. Although we no longer have hogs, that heritage continues to influence our focus on preserving the intelligence, loyalty, and versatility of the dogs we raise today.
Our dogs are registered with the United Kennel Club (UKC) and the English Shepherd Club (ESC). All of our breeding dogs undergo genetic testing through Embark prior to breeding to help ensure the health and quality of our program. Each puppy is raised hands-on as part of our daily life, giving them a strong foundation to become confident companions or capable working dogs.
